Photography and composition

Photographs have to have
-good subject

-good lighting

-Good composition

rule of thirds

Centre of interest: a photograph should have a strong focal point. determine what it is before composing your photo

Simplicity: keep compositions simple, avoiding busy background that distracts from a subject

Subject off centre: place a subject slightly off-centre rather than in the middle of a photo

divide your frame into 9 equal parts by creating a grid that is composed of both horizontal and vertical lines

Leading lines
- if a scene has strong lines, make sure the lines lead the eye into the frame rather than out of it. The lines should lead to the main point of interest

View points/angles

Vary angles: shoot at varying angles to capture a subject from a different view point. move the camera higher or lower than you usually do. For a dramatic effect, take some photos from a birds eye or worms eye view

Dramatic lighting - adds interest to a photo

Silhouettes - subject made dark by photographing it against a light background

Framing - Framing a subject by zooming or moving closer draws attention to it

Symmetry

-an identical or near identical image of its other half. Use of symmetry often provides a formal balance

Tilt

Tilt is when you tilt the camera to give a the person looking at it another perspective we achieved this by using a handheld camera tilting our hands this made us able to show a different perspective

Symmetry

Symmetry is used to show a formal setting and it is appealing to the human eye making people more likely to take a second look we achieved this by getting an area that was even on both sides

Depth of field

Shallow depth of field shows a certain object while also showing the background but making the focus on the one object in this case it is a bucket with less focus on the background we achieved this by getting a bucket and putting it infront of a background and putting the focus on the bucked

All in one

All of these components put together helps to provide a good image that is able to attract an audience drawing their eyes to the bucket and the rest of the image we a hived this by placing the bucket with a symmetrical background and focusing on the bucket and then tilting the camera to take the shot with all of the components present.
